Tree Hazards

Tree hazards present themselves in many manners and are not always obvious. Trees have four major zones where hazards may occur. Zone one is the most serious degree of hazard, which means that most of the above ground structure is in danger of possible failure. Zone four is of the least serious degree of hazard, which means that the tree will most likely fail partially. Tree hazards may not necessarily call for removal or extraction. However, the consumer should consult with a local arborist before taking any drastic measures.

Tree Disease, Injury & Infestation

As a property owner, it is important that the specifics about any of these conditions are understood before opting for tree removal. Many times a tree can be treated for it's injury or disease without having to extract the tree. RPM Tree Service has been dealing with injured and diseased trees for many years and our on-staff Arborists can assist you with such decisions.

Tree Pruning

Many times, trees are severely damaged or killed because something as simple as an incorrect pruning cut. Improper pruning can allow insects or other pathogens to infiltrate the tree.

With that in mind, it is of the utmost importance to have a knowledgeable professional make the proper recommendations for pruning trees on your property. RPM has two Arborists on staff to assist with such decision and help maintain a healthy tree. 

Tree Removal

Tree extraction (removal) can be a very dangerous procedure and requires above average physical abilities and quick reactions. There are many different methods of tree removal. Felling an entire tree is rarely accepted as a professional means to extract a tree. In suburban areas where expensive landscaping is often present, tree removal should be handled by a professional to avoid damaging the surrounding areas.

The most common method of extraction is climb the tree and lower the tree limbs by rope and section down small pieces of wood. In many cases, it is necessary to lower or "block" the trunk of the tree to the ground as well. This process insures that surrounding vegetation and structures remain intact and undamaged through the extraction process.

An extreme method of tree extraction, though not uncommon, is to use a crane to section down a tree. Often this method is used on extra large size trees to ensure a controlled removal. Cranes are also used in a hazardous or dead tree that can not handle the stress of movement in the tree.

Stump Grinding

Stump grinding is a process that shreds tree stumps into mulch. This allows use of once unsightly and once unusable areas left by tree removal. Stump grinding is an additional service provided by RPM. whereby the remaining stump, left after an extraction, is ground into mulch.
